5th Grade

Grade-Level Overview

• Religion- focus on the Sacraments; Mass leaders several times, Walking Stations of the Cross (Lent)

• Literacy- narrative, expository, and persuasive paragraphs and essays, grammar skills, spelling and vocabulary, and decoding meaning using root words (Greek and Latin)

• Math- reinforcing multiplication and division of multi-digit numbers, all operations with fractions, adding and subtracting decimals

• Social and emotional skills: Student Learning Expectations, Habits of Mind, Unbound sponsorship 

• Social Studies: American History: pre-colonial through early Republic

• Science: Physical, Earth, & Life Sciences, and Engineering

• Field Trips: potentially Tacoma Art Museum, Point Defiance Aquarium

• Standardized Tests: MAP test 2-3x per year, DIBELS reading tests 3x per year, ACRE test (Religion)
