Subject: ELA
ELA in Middle School is split up into three parts: Vocabulary, Reading, Writing/Grammar. Each week students in all grades will receive 10 vocabulary words from their grade level Sadlier-Oxford curriculum. At the end of each Unit, they will be given a Unit Test that will focus on reviewing the words they have already learned in order to ensure retention. Students in all grades will read three novels throughout the school year. They will also be responsible for two major essay projects. The purpose of these writing projects is for students to demonstrate their learning of grammar, mechanics, and syntax, while also becoming comfortable in a multi-layered planning, writing, and revision process.
